Wolfe Eye Clinic is Iowa’s leader in specialty eye care and surgical treatment. We offer premier care in managing and treating a wide range of eye diseases including cataracts, corneal disease, glaucoma, medical and cosmetic oculofacial structures, pediatric eye conditions and retina disease, and have performed more LASIK laser eye surgeries in the state of Iowa than any other provider. For over 100 years, Wolfe Eye Clinic has helped improve the vision and lives of over 700,000 patients across Iowa. In addition, Wolfe Eye Clinic provides audiology services in Ames, Cedar Falls, Marshalltown and West Des Moines.
In 2019, Wolfe Eye Clinic celebrated its 100-year anniversary. Since 1919, Wolfe Eye Clinic has been instrumental in advancing Iowa’s ophthalmic technology. Our clinic and physicians hold many “Iowa Firsts” – from being the first to perform small-incision phacoemulsification cataract surgery in 1972 and in 1994 performing the first LASIK eye surgery with the excimer laser to performing the first glaucoma surgery with the use of a Trabectome in 2007. Most recently, Wolfe Eye Clinic was the first in Iowa to use the NGENUITY® Visualization System for retina surgery in 2017 and in 2019, not only implanted the first PanOptix Trifocal intraocular lens during cataract surgery but the first Visian® Toric Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) to correct astigmatism.

Wolfe Eye Clinic was founded in 1919 in Marshalltown, Iowa, and has grown steadily over the past century. In 2019, we opened the Midwest’s largest ophthalmic surgical center and offer specialty eye services to patients throughout the state in eleven main clinics, nine family vision centers and twenty-seven outreach locations. While the clinic continues to grow, our highest priority remains the same: our patients.
