Don’t LOSE it—USE your Health Savings or Flex Spending money on LASIK!
Are you one of the 150 million Americans who have a refractive disorder and are wanting to ditch your glasses or contacts? Maybe you are motivated and ready, but unsure if financially you can afford LASIK laser vision correction? Finding a reason to have LASIK isn’t hard, freedom from glasses and contacts is a great one, but we understand it has to make sense financially too! We are here to help answer any questions you might have about the investment in LASIK.
First things first, the most popular question. Will my insurance cover LASIK? Typically, neither health nor vision insurance cover LASIK as the procedure is considered an elective cosmetic surgery. Flex Savings Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) is something that may be offered by your employer and these are pre-tax dollars taken from your paycheck that you can later use for medical or surgical purposes, including LASIK. These types of funds are great options to pay for part or all of your LASIK laser vision correction surgery.
Don’t have HSA or Flex spending dollars? We also offer financing options through a trusted financial partner. Many patients at Wolfe Eye Clinic take advantage of financing as the process is super easy and helps with budget flexibility. With two different term options you can pick the best solution to fit your needs and with approved credit, this program allows patients the flexibility of regular monthly payments. How does LASIK work?
Simple, LASIK works in two steps, starting with creating a corneal flap and then reshaping the cornea’s curvature with the most modern all-laser technology available on the market. This allows light to accurately enter the eye and focus on the retina improving distance and up-close vision. Refractive surgery is designed to treat and correct refractive errors including nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism. LASIK does not however correct the natural aging of the eye and the need for reading glasses called presbyopia which is the normal process of aging.
At your free, no-obligation consultation, our team will perform advanced testing to determine if you are a candidate, however, you can quickly identify if you might be a candidate with a few basic considerations, such as:
- Age- You should be eighteen years or older
- Stable Vision- Little to no change in prescription for at least a year prior to LASIK consultation
- Pregnancy or Nursing- Due to hormone changes associated with pregnancy, you should not be pregnant, nursing, or plan to be pregnant in the near future
- Health- You should be cataract- free, and have healthy eyes (certain eye diseases can disqualify you from LASIK)
