Wolfe Eye Clinic to be Diamond Sponsor at Marshalltown's Oktemberfest Celebration
Wolfe Eye Clinic leads in support of hometown celebration in honor of their 100th birthday.
Wolfe Eye Clinic announced this month their intention to be the presenting sponsor for Marshalltown's annual Oktemberfest celebration. Wolfe Eye Clinic was established in Marshalltown in 1919 when Otis R. Wolfe M.D. moved his specialty ophthalmology practice to Marshalltown, reportedly because it was located along a busy railroad line in a central location in the state.
"Wolfe Eye Clinic is proud of its long history in Marshalltown. The Wolfe Eye Clinic was founded here and it still serves as our headquarters today. The Marshalltown community has always encouraged and supported Wolfe Eye Clinic, and we are proud to be able to give back to our community," said Dr. James Davison of Wolfe Eye Clinic and 40-year Marshalltown resident.
Early on, Dr. Wolfe's son's, Otis and Russell, both ophthalmologists, and son Henry, an optometrist, joined him in practice. Together, they became one of the first clinics in the country to practice an integrated model of delivering medical and surgical eye care in which ophthalmologists and optometrists throughout the state worked shoulder to shoulder together. As the organization developed over the years, many ophthalmology firsts and innovations have occurred in Marshalltown and currently 13 fellowship-trained, sub-specialized ophthalmologists see patients regularly in the home office.
"Our physicians are proud to be able to support our hometown of Marshalltown and are committed to continuing to bring an unparalleled breadth of subspecialty eye care to the community, including cornea, retina, pediatric, glaucoma, cataract, and oculoplastics," said Kevin Swartz, Chief Executive Officer for Wolfe Eye Clinic.
This year's Oktemberfest will be held Thursday, September 26th through Sunday, September 29th. The generosity of area business and individuals allows Marshalltown to host their largest family event annually for the area residents. The weekend's activities are for both adults and children to enjoy, complete with a Grand Parade, Little Mr. & Mrs. Oktemberfest, The Classic Car Show, live music and more. Details can be found at www.oktemberfest.com.
"Oktemberfest is proud to accept this donation and help Wolfe Eye Clinic celebrate 100 years," said Alyce Quastad, Oktemberfest Board Member. "From the entire Oktemberfest Board of Directors, thank you Wolfe Eye Clinic!"
