DR. GREGORY L. THORGAARD – OTTUMWA COMPREHENSIVE OPHTHALMOLOGIST

Gregory L. Thorgaard, M.D. graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa, earning membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. After a one-year internship, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Iowa.

Dr. Thorgaard is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Iowa Medical Society and Iowa Eye Association. He has been nominated to the Best Doctors of America since 1996.

In 1988, Dr. Thorgaard joined Dr. Norman Hutchison in ophthalmology practice in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was managing partner of their practice, Heartland Eye Care, until the clinic and Wolfe Eye Clinic merged in 2014. Dr. Thorgaard sees patients at Wolfe Eye Clinic in Ottumwa as a comprehensive ophthalmologist, diagnosing, managing and treating a variety of ocular pathologies. He enjoys seeing patients of all ages and being able to help them manage and understand their eye issues.

Outside of work, Dr. Thorgaard enjoys golf, skiing, biking, exercising and spending time with his wife and three grown children.
